Beyond Guerre di Rete: a reading list on tech, geopolitics and cybersecurity

Guerre di Rete remains unreachable in terms of the sheer quality and depth of its articles (in memory of Carola Frediani, RIP).
However, in these times of global uncertainty, I thought I’d put together a collection of “similar” high-quality publications sitting at the intersection of investigative tech journalism, geopolitical strategy, and cybersecurity analysis.
I've selected the following:
- Rest of World: in-depth investigative reporting on how technology, infrastructure, and surveillance reshape societies and power dynamics outside the Western bubble.
- 404 Media: an independent, journalist-owned outlet focused on privacy, hacking, darknet markets, digital rights, and cybercrime.
- Risky Business: a sharp analysis source dedicated to state-sponsored cyber conflict, geopolitical espionage, and defence policy.
- EFF (Electronic Frontier Foundation) Deeplinks: detailed commentary and investigative pieces defending civil liberties, digital privacy, and open tech in the modern age.
- Reflets Info: a pioneering French investigative journal covering state surveillance, hacktivism, and cyber-defence power dynamics.
- AlgorithmWatch: a non-profit research and investigative initiative tracking automated decision-making, AI ethics, and algorithmic governance.
