OpenAI agents go rogue on Wikipedia?!

Not quite. But the Wikimedia Foundation did detect a considerable amount of traffic generated by hordes of agents poking, editing and messing things up.

That puts pressure on the infrastructure Wikipedia relies on, and on the team itself, who have to spend time undoing what the agents did.

Wikipedia is an invaluable public good, and we should protect it. Agent traffic is ramping up, putting unnecessary stress on organisations like this one, which have benefited the whole of humanity for decades.
